Royal Challengers Bengaluru have started this season of the IPL as the defending champions of the competition and have continued to hold onto their promising form from the last season of the competition. The Challengers won their first-ever IPL title under skipper Rajat Patidar’s leadership after no one imagined that the inexperienced skipper would hand the Red Devils their first-ever trophy.
Having started from where they left Bengaluru, they have held onto their promising run and dominated the majority of their opposition. RCB have now managed to win six of their first eight games in the tournament and are currently placed second on the points table with 12 points, just one less than table toppers, Punjab Kings, who have played one game less than them and are yet at the top of the table with an undefeated streak.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar’s promising leadership continues in the IPL as his team secures yet another victory in their title defence. Patidar has attributed the win to his team’s bowlers, who peaked in the powerplay itself.
DC batters struggled to thrive against the early carnage from Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar
The Delhi Capitals have struggled with the bat against the tough lines from the RCB batters. Royal Challengers Bengaluru started with the combination of experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced three wickets with the new ball as he swung it to dimensions, and on the other hand, Josh Hazlewood hit the hard length more often, who also handed an equal number of breakthroughs.
After having bounced back, Josh Hazlewood picked the final wicket with the dismissal of Abhishek Porel, who was the last wicket to fall when Hazlewood crashed one at the middle stump, finishing their innings for 75 runs.
Rajat Patidar extends win percentage as IPL captain
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar excelled in the last season in the role of captain. He was a young skipper and got confidence from all of their fans after the franchise’s commanding performance.
Patidar, now with just two losses this season, has extended their winning streak and has himself won 16 out of their 21 matches in the history of the IPL. He has a win percentage of 76% in the IPL, as he seems to rewrite the history of the IPL on his own.
All credit goes to the bowlers, Bhuvi and Hazlewood- Rajat Patidar
“Absolutely. Even I am surprised by the way Wicket played,” said Rajat Patidar, the RCB skipper, when being asked whether this was sweet revenge taken by RCB over their opposition.
“All credit goes to the bowlers, Bhuvi and Hazlewood. They hit the right areas. The swing was normal, but the good thing was we got early wickets, and that kept us in the driving seat,” he added.
“The way Suyash bowled, stump to stump, it was really good to see. It is very important to follow your routines, we are taking it one game at a time. Different players are coming up and doing well. In T20 cricket, on flat pitches you need the bowling, because bowlers only can win you tournaments,” he added further.
