Arguably the most dominating force in the Twenty20 format, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ended the IPL 2026 season, claiming the titles of Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season, Orange Cap winner, and Super Sixes of the Season.
Since making his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2025 with the Rajasthan Royals, the 15-year-old has been delivering top-notch knocks in his own way. World-class bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and many others were simply blown away against the thriving Rajasthan Royals batters.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also impressed Sachin Tendulkar
Former cricketers, experts, and cricket fans have no clue how a 15-year-old batter could do such carnage with such ease. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is among the former cricketers who are awestruck by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s unearthly batting skills.
In a Reddit post, Sachin Tendulkar stated that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s influence on the game is beyond the runs he has scored. Every team in the league had to think about him, had to make separate tactics for him; fans were waiting to see the teenage opener in action.
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi influenced games that went beyond the runs he scored. Oppositions were thinking about him, teams were planning for him, and fans were waiting for him long before he arrived at the crease,” Tendulkar wrote in a Reddit post.
Tendulkar observes that Vaibhav’s ability to score runs even under pressure is unmatched
Tendulkar observed that even under the pressure situation of the play-offs, the Bihar-born’s batting approach did not change at all, which was unique in its own way. The former batter further noted that with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at the top of the batting order, the Rajasthan Royals always had the belief to fetch good results whenever they walked out to play a match.
“His ability to score rapidly in both the Eliminator and the Qualifier showed that his intent remained unchanged, even as the pressure increased. More importantly, his batting seemed to give Rajasthan Royals an added sense of belief every time he walked out to the middle,” Sachin Tendulkar said.

Rajasthan Royals qualified for the play-offs only to be knocked out by the Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2. Despite the team’s failure to claim the trophy, Sooryavanshi remains the brightest prospect of Indian cricket.
Sooryavanshi played all of the 16 matches of the Royals to score 776 runs for an average of 48.50 and a mind-boggling strike rate of 237.30. His stats are supported by five half-centuries and one century.
Against the Gujarat Titans, in the Qualifier 2 match on May 29, he played a 96-run knock. It was among the innings where Vaibhav Sooryavanshi proved that he is not only about smashing the balls, but also about performing with composure and awareness.
A case study on the 15-year-old
According to media reports, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore is to survey the young batter. The purpose of the study is to analyse talent development, mental resilience, discipline, and long-term athlete growth, and various other aspects of the game.
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s story is not merely about exceptional performance in cricket. It is a significant case in human potential, talent development, discipline, mental resilience, and the pursuit of sustained excellence.”
“At just 15 years of age, the confidence, skill, and composure with which Vaibhav has established himself on the national and international stage demonstrate that extraordinary talent, when supported by the right environment, guidance, and opportunities, can produce remarkable outcomes,” IIM Indore Director Himanshu Rai said.
