Sangakkara Makes Massive Revelation About Vaibhav

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is just 15, but he plays with a cool head that you don’t usually see at that age. He’s always been able to hit big, but early on, he’d sometimes throw his wicket away trying to go too hard, too soon. Lately, though, he’s changed. He’s gotten smarter about when to attack and when to hold back. Now, he knows how important it is to hang around at the crease—he’ll play out the good balls, settle in, and then, once he’s comfortable, he goes after the bowlers with no mercy.

Not long ago, Vaibhav showed just how calm he’s become. He shared a moment with the Rajasthan Royals that said a lot about where his mind is. During a chat, he talked about how he actually calmed down their head coach Kumar Sangakkara, who was feeling the heat.

This happened during the IPL 2026 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, when RR faced off against the Lucknow Super Giants. Rajasthan had lost their last three games, and making the playoffs was on the line. LSG put up a big total—220 for 5—and that definitely put the pressure on.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR’s stand-in captain, had chosen to bowl first. When the Royals came in for the chase, Sangakkara looked really tense. Vaibhav noticed as he padded up, and you could see the stress on his coach’s face. But Vaibhav felt confident. He just told Sangakkara, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this. This isn’t a big score for this wicket.” And honestly, there was no doubt in his voice.

He kept his word too. Vaibhav hammered 93 runs from just 38 balls—seven boundaries, ten sixes—and took the game away from Lucknow. Rajasthan won by seven wickets with five deliveries left, snapping their losing streak and keeping their playoff hopes alive. Sometimes, the kid’s the calmest one in the room.
