Imagine MS Dhoni is playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but for a different team other than the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). That sounds awkward and may be tense or impossible, right? But, if the current circumstances are to be believed, then the legendary cricketer and the franchise are likely to be separated after the conclusion of the ongoing season.
It is the first time that MS Dhoni is about to miss every match of an IPL season. There is still one more match to go in the group stage for the team, and again, Dhoni is unlikely to take part in it. In multiple occasions, on multiple occasions, whether it was the head coach or someone else in the team, had claimed that the 44-year-old was not fit to take the field, while Dhoni looked fine in the nets.
Why can MS Dhoni leave CSK?
Why he missed the games in the IPL 2026 season is still not clear. The relation between the two parties turns so bad that it cannot be repaired again. So, there is a huge possibility of seeing Dhoni leave the Yellow camp after the conclusion of the season.
“The relationship between Dhoni and CSK has deteriorated to such an extent that Thala will not be seen in yellow after the 2026 IPL,” a source informed Cricblogger. “So they ignored Dhoni completely this year, which irked him a lot.”
Management ignores MS Dhoni completely
The report further claims that some of the decisions related to the team-building process were made without consulting with Dhoni. The trade deal involving Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja went through without his concern.
“Sources added that the team management had not consulted Dhoni over the last two years. As reported earlier by CricBlogger, Dhoni was extremely upset with the transfers involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson, which took place without his knowledge. Ravichandran Ashwin also had some doubts
CSK played their last home match in the ongoing season on May 18, against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the match, MSD did a lap of honor in front of the packed MA Chidambaram Stadium. Was it a sign from him about the retirement? Speculations were raised suddenly.
Former teammate of Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, spotted something wrong with the lap. During an online discussion, Ashwin claimed that there was something off during the lap; the natural smile of Dhoni was not there. But it should be there as he loved the team very much.
“MS loves CSK a lot. Yesterday, when he was going for the lap (of honor), I didn’t see that love. I just didn’t feel that happiness. Earlier, every time he went around, he went with much happiness. But yesterday felt different, I don’t know why,” Ravichandran Ashwin stated.
