Shreyas Iyer and Xavier Bartlett combines to take a stunning catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya in MI vs PBKS clash

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.24, the Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field first. During the match, the PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer combined with Xavier Bartlett for a teamwork catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya.

In the 17.3 over, Shreyas began inches from the ropes and was immediately flirting with danger. He leapt back in one seamless move, hovering in midair as his hands closed around the ball. There was no earth under him or balance to rely on, only instinct.

Shreyas Iyer’s stunning attempt to dismiss Pandya

Even in that state of air, Shreyas Iyer had the foresight to flip it back in towards Xavier Bartlett with great control. It wasn’t just athleticism; it was awareness under pressure. Shreyas Iyer quietly nodded for the spotlight as he regained his footing, almost as if he knew what he’d just accomplished—because moments like these don’t ask for attention; they demand it.

MI made two forced changes as Rohit Sharma was injured and Mitchell Santner was unwell, and Quinton de Kock and Mayank Rawat came in for the Blues. After winning the toss, it was an amazing start for the Punjab side as MI were reduced to 12/2 inside the span of two balls. With Arshdeep Singh picking up the two wickets.

QDK scores a century on his return

De Kock and Naman Dhir stitched a 123 partnership between the two. Quinton De Kock made a century and finished off with an unbeaten score of 112 runs, and Naman Dhir also scored a fifty in the match; all other MI batters failed as the five-time winners.

Mumbai could only get to 195/6 in their 20 overs, and the Kings will be happy with the score, as it was Mumbai who were looking very dangerous when Naman and QDK were batting, and a 200+ score was looking very possible. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, with 3/22 in his four overs.

MI batters falter again

For MI, the struggle continued for Suryakumar Yadav, as he went back for a golden duck. He has failed to score many runs in this edition of the IPL. The team India captain has scored 106 runs, with an average of 21.20.

Except for Naman Dhir and QDK, no other batters for Mumbai could get past the score of 20 runs, and it has been a concern for the side, as they have faltered in the middle overs, which have cost them to lose the games.

PBKS, while chasing, are off to a flying start with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimaran Singh scoring at a good pace, and they were 26/0 after the end of two overs. If Mumbai loses this game, they will be out of the playoff contention race, as they have lost three out of the four matches.
