The Puducherry Election Department has commenced a special drive for the enrolment of eligible voters who were left out of the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise undertaken in the Union Territory.

In a release, Chief Electoral Officer A.S.P.S. Ravi Prakash said the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed Chief Electoral Officers, District Election Officers, and Electoral Registration Officers in States and UTs, where the SIR exercise has been completed, to undertake a special drive for fresh enrolment.

The special drive has been launched to enrol eligible persons whose names may have been left out of the electoral roll during or after the SIR, including those of young and first-time voters. Accordingly, the special drive has been initiated to identify and facilitate the enrolment of all eligible persons who are not presently included in the electoral roll, he said.

“As part of the drive, BLOs have been directed to undertake house-to-house verification of the Absent / Shifted / Dead (ASD) list prepared during exercise. The ASD list contains the names of electors who, during the SIR process, were categorised under the relevant categories based on the field verification undertaken during the revision. The purpose of the present exercise was to re-verify the present status of such persons at their respective addresses and to ensure that no eligible elector is inadvertently left out of the electoral roll. The BLOs will visit the concerned households and ascertain the present status of every person included in the list,” the CEO said.

The ASD list prepared during the SIR is available on the website of the CEO, Puducherry (https://ceopuducherry.py.gov.in/voters2025/). Eligible citizens are encouraged to make use of this opportunity and ensure that their names are included in the electoral roll. The ECI’s Voters Service Portal (https://voters.eci.gov.in/) also provided facility for new voter registration, searching the electoral roll, and contacting the BLO concerned.

The BLOs have been directed to complete the re-verification process by October 17, the release said.
