A 16-year-old Class XI girl was stabbed by a stalker at her home in Keelamoongiladi near Chidambaram on Sunday.
According to the police, the girl was alone at home when the accused Ayappan, 28, an electrician of C. Mutlur entered the house. The accused had been stalking the girl for a long time. Police said on Sunday, he asked the victim to marry him.
After the girl rejected his overtures, he took out a knife and stabbed her in the neck and other areas and fled the scene. On hearing the girl’s screams, the neighbours rushed her to the Government Medical College and Hospital.
The Chidambaram Taluk police are investigating.
