A 13-year-old girl was found dead at her home in Chalakka, near Nedumbassery, in a suspected case of suicide after her parents reportedly prevented her from using a mobile phone. The girl, a Class 9 student at a private school in Kunnukara, was found dead on Thursday evening (August 13), hours after her parents reportedly scolded her over her mobile phone use.
The girl allegedly took the extreme step while her mother, a cleaning worker, was at home and her father, a daily-wage worker, was away, police sources said. The family lives in a rented house.
The Chengamanad police registered a case of unnatural death on Friday (August 14).
