Thousands of people joined the Tiranga Yatra celebrating national pride and unity. Students and the general public participated in the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in both Bihar and Jharkhand.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary led the Tiranga Yatra in Haveli Kharagpur as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign-2026 in Munger district. Carrying the Tricolour and chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, the participants conveyed a message of national unity, integrity, and patriotism. Mr. Choudhary paid tributes by offering flowers and garlanding the statues of the late Nandalal Bose, Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Ministers of the Bihar Government, MLAs, MLCs, and social and political activists were part of the procession. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Choudhary said that the Tricolour is a symbol of the country’s unity, integrity, and pride.
“The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is a significant initiative aimed at fostering respect for the nation, patriotism, and a sense of national unity among citizens,” Mr. Choudhary said.
He called upon the people to transform this initiative into a true mass movement.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai also participated in the Tiranga Yatra from the Mohiuddinnagar Assembly constituency to the Morwa Assembly constituency within the Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Hundreds of party workers and youths participated in the procession, riding motorcycles and carrying the Tricolour in their hands, while chanting slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.”
Mr. Rai said that, following the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative has evolved into a powerful campaign driven by public participation.
Also after the meeting of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLD) district presidents, party supremo Upendra Kushwaha, Bihar Government’s Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash, MLAs Alok Kumar Singh and Snehlata Kushwaha, and other state office-bearers participated in the Tiranga Yatra in Patna.
Jharkhand Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi also participated in the Tiranga Yatra organised by the BJP in Medininagar (Daltonganj). Palamu MP B.D. Ram, Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh, MLA Shashi Bhushan Mehta were also present along with the district president and party workers.
Similarly, the 209 CoBRA Battalion (CRPF) organised a motorcycle Tiranga Yatra to foster patriotism, national integration, and respect for the Tricolour. Led by Commandant Sorabh Bhatnagar, the rally showcased the force’s unwavering commitment to national pride.
Starting from the Battalion Headquarters (Khunti district), the motorcycle convoy carrying the National Flag travelled through Tupudana Chowk (Ranchi) to Bridgeford School, ODM Sapphire School, Kalamati High School, and PM Shri Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya (Kalamati). At each stop, the rally received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from students, educators, and the public.
CoBRA personnel interacted directly with students, distributed National Flags and chocolates. The troops also spoke regarding civic responsibilities, the paramount importance of national unity, and proper respect for the National Flag.
On the other hand, nine police officers from Jharkhand have been selected for the President’s Police Medal on the occasion of Independence Day 2026, including the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) to Shailendra Kumar Sinha, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Bokaro.
The Bihar Police has also been awarded the prestigious President’s Colour Award this year. Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar said that 18 police personnel from Bihar will be awarded by the President.
They will be awarded in three different categories of gallantry medal, meritorious medal and distinguished service medal, while seven police personnel will be awarded by ₹51,000 by the State government on the occasion.
