The Indian Premier League (IPL) has long been regarded as a paradise for batters, where packed stadiums, flat pitches, and short boundaries often combine to create high-scoring spectacles. While the tournament has showcased several world-class bowlers over the years, even the best have found themselves under immense pressure in the shortest format.
In T20 cricket, one bad over can change the course of a match, and bowlers frequently end up on the receiving end of brutal power-hitting. The ongoing IPL 2026 season has once again highlighted how unforgiving the format can be, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Anshul Kamboj entering an unwanted record list after conceding the most sixes in a single IPL season.
3 bowlers who conceded most sixes in an IPL season
3) Mohammed Siraj – IPL 2022
Gujarat Titans speedster Mohammed Siraj endured a difficult IPL campaign in 2022, who was playing for RCB back then, despite being one of India’s premier fast bowlers. Known for his aggression and ability to swing the new ball, Siraj struggled badly with rhythm and consistency throughout that season.
The right-arm pacer conceded 31 sixes during the tournament, which placed him among the bowlers who suffered the most against aggressive batting attacks. Batters targeted him regularly during the powerplay as well as at the death, where he often failed to execute his yorkers and slower deliveries effectively.
Siraj finished the season with only nine wickets from 15 matches. His average of 57.11 and economy rate of 10.07 reflected the struggles he endured across the campaign. In fact, IPL 2022 remains the most expensive season of his IPL career in terms of economy rate. What made the season more disappointing was the expectation surrounding Siraj after his strong performances for India in international cricket. However, T20 cricket can often be brutal for fast bowlers, and the 2022 edition served as a reminder that even elite pacers can go through rough phases in the IPL.
2) Rashid Khan – IPL 2025
Afghanistan star Rashid Khan entered IPL 2025 with a reputation as one of the most feared T20 bowlers in the world. However, the Gujarat Titans spinner experienced an unusually poor season, one that saw him concede 33 sixes across the tournament.
For years, Rashid had built his success on accuracy, control, and his ability to outsmart batters with subtle variations. But during IPL 2025, opposition teams appeared far more prepared against him. Several batters attacked him fearlessly, especially during the middle overs where he traditionally dominated.
The leg-spinner ended the campaign with just nine wickets in 15 matches while maintaining an economy rate of 9.34. Those numbers represented the worst IPL season of his career both in terms of wickets and economy.
Rashid’s unwanted record of conceding 33 sixes stood as the highest ever in IPL history at that point. Considering his incredible legacy in T20 cricket, the season came as a massive surprise to fans and experts alike.
Still, Rashid’s class and experience ensured that many backed him to bounce back stronger, proving once again that even legendary bowlers are not immune to difficult seasons in the IPL.

1) Anshul Kamboj – IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings pacer Kamboj now sits at the top of this unwanted list after conceding 34 sixes during IPL 2026. The young fast bowler’s campaign turned into one of the most talked-about stories of the season because of its dramatic highs and lows. Kamboj initially emerged as one of CSK’s biggest positives this year. He consistently picked wickets with his sharp pace, aggressive lengths, and fearless approach. For a major part of the season, he looked like a genuine breakthrough star and played a crucial role in keeping CSK competitive.
However, things changed during the latter half of the tournament as opposition batters began targeting him heavily. In Chennai’s final league-stage clash against Gujarat Titans, Kamboj conceded four sixes, which pushed his season tally to 34 maximums conceded — the most ever by a bowler in a single IPL edition. The match also marked another unwanted milestone, as Kamboj became the first bowler to concede more than 500 runs in IPL 2026. Since CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs, his season ended with that record attached to his name.
Despite the late struggles, the campaign was not entirely negative for the youngster. Kamboj still finished among the leading wicket-takers of the tournament with 21 wickets in 14 matches, highlighting the impact he made throughout the season.
