The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) has been expanding its operations beyond a single area to cover Chandragiri, Tirupati, Srikalahasti, and Nagari constituencies, thereby accelerating development to meet future needs, said its Chairman and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) ex-officio member C. Divakar Reddy.

Mr. Divakar Reddy, along with Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani announced that comprehensive plans were being implemented to position Tirupati as top district in the State under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh, at a press conference in the Tirupati Press Club on Saturday.

“We are coordinating with all local MLAs and prioritising the public needs. We are developing state-of-the-art roads, drainage, and street lighting systems to cater to the lakhs of pilgrims visiting Tirupati, ensuring they do not face inconvenience due to traffic jams. We have initiated work on eight major Master Plan roads spanning 19 km in the city at a cost of ₹200 crore,” he said.

“Wide roads (80-100 feet) are being constructed in Shettipalli area and the layout will be made available within the next three months. Following discussions with Chandragiri MLA on the issues faced by residents in the layouts and plots of Daminedu area, we have decided to provide comprehensive road infrastructure here,” the TUDA chief said.

“Roadworks spanning 2.5 km are being undertaken at a cost of ₹90 crore — funded by the TTD — to resolve traffic and parking issues at Tiruchanur temple, which attracts nearly 50,000 devotees daily. Dedicated parking areas are being allocated for the vehicles of the pilgrims, and a special corridor is being created to prevent traffic congestion on the roads,” he informed.

A 100-foot-wide, 6.8-km-long greenfield road is being constructed to connect Madanapalle-Tirupati and Tirupati-Bengaluru highways, running from Kalyani Dam via Rangampeta, Kotala, and Aitepalli. To meet the city residents’ water needs, plans have been finalised following multiple reviews with the MLA to ensure water supply from Peruru Tank to Avilala Tank with ₹30 crore.
