Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi has once again shown remarkable maturity beyond his age ahead of the franchise’s massive Qualifier 2 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2026. The 15-year-old batter has played a crucial role in Rajasthan’s impressive campaign this season with his fearless strokeplay and consistency at the top of the order.
As Rajasthan prepare to face Gujarat in a high-pressure knockout encounter, Suryavanshi reflected on the team’s approach going into the game and revealed that lifting the IPL trophy remains the ultimate goal for the squad. Despite enjoying a sensational individual season, the youngster made it clear that team success matters far more to him than personal records or milestones.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi prioritises team success over personal milestones
Suryavanshi has been one of the biggest breakout stars of IPL 2026, scoring 680 runs at a staggering strike rate of 242.85. However, the teenager revealed that the values taught by his father have always kept him grounded and focused on contributing to the team rather than chasing individual achievements.
“Since childhood, my father has always told me that if you score a hundred, a double hundred, or even a triple hundred, but the team does not win because of it, then those runs hold no value. They may only for your personal record, but they do not benefit the team. Cricket, in the end, is a team game. If I score 80 instead of a hundred and my team wins, and if we still do not win despite me scoring a century, then that 80 means more to me than the hundred. The longer my team stays in the tournament and the deeper we go into the playoffs and finals, the more chances I will get to score hundreds and achieve whatever records I want to break. So, it benefits both me personally and the team as well,” Suryavanshi said while speaking to JioStar.
The young batter has already endured heartbreak twice this season after getting dismissed in the 90s. He fell for 93 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the league stage and later missed out on a century again in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after being dismissed for 97.
Rajasthan Royals aiming to reach IPL 2026 final
Ahead of the crucial Qualifier 2 clash, Suryavanshi also opened up on Rajasthan Royals’ mindset and stressed the importance of staying calm and fearless in pressure situations. With a place in the IPL 2026 final on the line, Rajasthan Royals will once again hope their teenage sensation delivers another match-winning performance against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans.
“We are looking to go in with a good mindset and positive intent and continue doing what the whole team has done throughout the tournament. We should continue to enjoy the game, which we always do, not take the pressure of a big match, and back our strengths. As a team and as a unit, we want to reach the finals and hopefully lift the trophy,” the youngster concluded.
