As many as 1,511 candidates were selected for various jobs at a job mela organised in Mysuru on Saturday, providing employment opportunities to job-seekers.
The job mela was organised by the Janaspandana Trust, run by former MLA M.K. Somashekar. Minister in-charge of Mysuru district Yathindra Siddaramaiah inaugurated the mela.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yathindra appreciated Mr. Somashekar for organising such initiatives to help job-seekers secure employment. He advised students and youth to develop relevant skills to improve their employability.
More than 60 companies participated in the job mela, providing a platform for candidates to explore employment opportunities, he said.
Mr. Somashekar said there were around 8,000 job openings available, but companies were finding it difficult to recruit suitable candidates with the required skill sets.
A total of 4,537 candidates registered for the job mela, of whom 1,511 were selected for various positions. Another 1,309 candidates were shortlisted for the next phase of the recruitment process, he said.
