Govt. job aspirants protest outside Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM’s residence over delay in recruitment

Hundreds of candidates seeking recruitment to 3,284 junior assistant typist posts staged a protest outside the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday demanding completion of the recruitment and appointment process by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).

The job aspirants held placards and accused the State government of neglecting their grievances and delaying the process.

Following the protest, Mr. Pathak met the aspirants and said he has instructed officials to resolve the issue immediately. “I met the candidates and spoke to the UPSSSC Chairman. I have instructed that their issues be resolved immediately. Our government stands firmly with students and the youth. We are working on meeting their demands,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that all students desire a speedy resolution. “I have just directed the UPSSSC Chairman to ensure that the typing examination is held promptly in accordance with the students’ demands,” he said.

‘False assurances’

The aspirants said they have been waiting for the typing test for a long time.

“We met the Deputy Chief Minister regarding the delay in the recruitment drive. The typing test has not taken place yet. Now, they are suggesting to hold it in December. We want the test to be held as soon as possible. However, the commission keeps giving us false assurances,” said Abhinav Mishra, one of the protesting aspirants.

He said though the protesters appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister and he later facilitated a discussion, the UPSSSC officials only said the matter would be considered and that they are deliberating on it.

“We want them to issue an official notice confirming that the typing test for the 3,284 vacant posts will take place in October. It is already significantly delayed,” Mr. Mishra said.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress extended support to the aspirants’ demands and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the State has “failed” in providing employment to the youth.

“The government made tall promises about employment generation, but it has completely failed. Aspirants were forced to reach the Deputy CM’s residence for regular and time-bound recruitment. The recruitment calendar is not being followed. Our leader Rahul Gandhiji was in Prayagraj holding a dialogue with the youth. We will support them in every way possible,” Congress national secretary Shahnawaz Alam said.
