Ravi Shastri is known for his high-octane speeches while conducting the toss. On Thursday, April 23, he conducted the toss for the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium. However, towards the end of his introductory speech, he momentarily forgot the name of the Super Kings’ skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
After a brief pause, Shastri did mention Gaikwad’s name. Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya and Ruturaj both had smiles on their faces seeing a rare blip from the former India head coach.

Coming to the toss, Hardik won it and opted to bowl first, which isn’t a surprise at the Wankhede Stadium. However, Rohit Sharma seems to have failed to recover in time for this game as Mumbai is going in with the same team that won the previous game against the Gujarat Titans.
Ruturaj, at the toss, acknowledged the several CSK fans who had turned up at the stadium to support his team. The opening batter said that the legendary MS Dhoni deserves the credit for the massive fan base of the five-time champions. However, he had some tough news for the fans as he mentioned that the wicketkeeper-batter isn’t at the venue. Dhoni has not played a game so far in the tournament. He was very close to playing this game, but it seems that fans will have to wait until Sunday at least to watch the former India skipper in action.
However, it’s great to see young Ayush Mhatre present with the CSK squad on Thursday. The talented batter has been ruled out of the season due to a hamstring injury. Fast bowler Akash Madhwal has replaced him in the side.
