The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) requested District Collector of Hyderabad Priyanka Ala seeking immediate intervention to protect 8 acres of government land in survey no. 157/1 in Thikatta, Trimulgherry, now valued at about ₹800 crore.
In a representation submitted to the District Collector here on Monday, official spokesperson of the BRS Manne Krishank stated that the eight acres land has been identified as government (poramboke-sarkari) land historically with records dating back to 1955, land encroachment proceedings of 1975-76 and multiple court proceedings consistently reflecting government interest over the property.
However, it has been the subject of legal and administrative proceedings for several decades with courts and revenue authorities repeatedly resisting the private claims over the property. Last year, Cantonment Congress MLA Sri Ganesh and Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reportedly proposed construction of 6,000 Indiramma houses on the same land, treating it as government property meant for public welfare.
Despite this, the land is now reportedly under private control and has been fenced off, causing concern among local residents. Mr. Krishank sought to know how a public asset worth nearly ₹800 crore could allegedly pass into private possession, keeping aside long-standing government claims.
The BRS leader requested the District Collector to order an immediate inquiry into the title, classification, possession and legal status of the land, examination of all historical revenue, survey and legal records, joint verification by revenue, survey and legal authorities and protection of government interest and initiation of legal action wherever necessary.
Further, he sought probe into any irregularities, misuse of authority or undue influence connected with the land, public disclosure of all relevant records and inquiry findings and clarification on the status of the proposed 6,000 Indiramma houses project.
