Railway authorities, however, said the incident was not an accident but part of a planned demolition under the ongoing Kozhikode railway station redevelopment project.
Changes to train services
Due to operational reasons, train services were partially affected on Thursday.
Train No. 12076 Thiruvananthapuram Central–Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express and Train No. 16511 KSR Bengaluru–Kozhikode Express were short-terminated before reaching Kozhikode. Meanwhile, Train No. 16512 Kozhikode–KSR Bengaluru Express and Train No. 12075 Kozhikode–Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express commenced their journeys from alternate stations instead of Kozhikode, resulting in partial cancellations on their respective routes.
