Lucknow Super Giants skipper and the most highly paid cricketer in the history of the IPL, Rishabh Pant, has once again departed for a duck, that too while chasing a minor total of 160 runs against the Rajasthan Royals at their own home ground.
The Lucknow Super Giants had lost a stint of three matches in a row and had to pull out something special at the Ekana. Their bowlers once again did the trick with the ball, especially the three pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav, who picked two wickets each.
They helped LSG restrict the dangerous RR batting lineup to a score of just 160, while their top order was dismissed within the powerplay. Had it not been for Mayank Yadav’s final 20-run over against Ravindra Jadeja, the Royals could not have posted a fighting total of 159 runs.
Rishabh Pant departs after a mindless shot against Nandre Burger
Lucknow Super Giants batter Rishabh Pant has once again been dismissed on an occasion when he had the chance to take his team over the line. Pant came in to bat after Ayush Badoni was run out for a duck. However, Pant played a set of irresponsible shots that never saw his innings running.
Rishabh tried to pull a ball with a short-arm jab towards the mid-wicket boundary and instead edged the ball back to the RR wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who completed a simple catch. Pant departed after three balls for a duck, pushing his side into further trouble.
Rishabh Pant’s form has been very poor this season. He has amassed 147 runs across 7 innings with just one half-century. In the last seven matches, he has a 7 against DC, a match-winning 68* against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, 10 against KKR, 18 against GT, 1 against RCB, and lastly, a 43 against PBKS in the last high-scoring game.
Justin Langer leaves the dugout with utter disgust after Pant’s dismissal
Rishabh Pant’s mindless shot selection and the carelessness in such crucial junctures of the game have been frustrating for all. The LSG owner has been seen on multiple occasions talking to Pant about these kinds of unnecessary risks that have cost the team in the long run.
Due to his poor shot selection on this occasion in the very short chase against the Rajasthan Royals, the head coach Justin Langer stood up on his feet and left the dugout. He looked visibly frustrated by the captain’s poor conduct.
Now it’s up to the likes of Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, the two experienced campaigners who would need to hold their nerve and take the game as deep as possible.

PANT FALLS EARLY — LSG IN BIG TROUBLE 🚨
Rishabh Pant going for a three-ball duck is a massive blow. He’s the backbone of this batting unit, and his early exit has completely shifted the pressure onto the middle order. LSG now needs something special to recover from here ⚠️ pic.twitter.com/Uj4CBFG84t
