Yudhvir, the Jammu & Kashmir quick, “reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling on 13th June and also experienced similar pain earlier during a fielding session on 11th June,” a BCCI statement on Tuesday morning said. “The BCCI medical team, after consultation with a specialist, recommended that Yudhvir undergo a graduated rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to achieve a full recovery from the right rotator cuff injury.”
News of Ashok’s inclusion in the squad came on the same day it was confirmed that he would be representing
Gujarat from the upcoming 2026-27 domestic season after he was given a no-objection certificate by the Rajasthan Cricket Association, the team he represented in the age-group circuit as well as one season of senior cricket.
Ashok impressed in patches
for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2026, picking up six wickets in as many matches, but was expensive at 10.85. He lost his place in the playing XII as the team tried different bowling combinations.
Prior to the IPL, he had been impressive at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 where, in his debut season, he finished as the
joint-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in ten matches at an average of 15.63, a strike rate of 10.13 and an economy rate of 9.25.
His raw pace was the most exciting aspect of his game – and led to GT acquiring him at the auction prior to the 2026 season – while the ability to move the ball and hit good lengths have been praised by observers.
Ashok played only one season of senior cricket for Rajasthan, picking up 14 wickets in four first-class matches, while also claiming 13 wickets in seven List A matches. He was first included in the India A team in February, when he played warm-up matches against USA and Namibia ahead of the T20 World Cup.
At the ‘A’ tri-series in Dambulla, India have lost two of their three matches – including in
a dramatic Super Over against hosts Sri Lanka on Monday – and will face Afghanistan A in their final league match on Wednesday. The final of the series will be played on Sunday.
