A day after the Monsoon Session of the Karnataka legislature came to an abrupt end, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday (August 25) held parleys with party legislators on issues concerning governance and development in their constituencies even as he asked the legislators to take initiative for setting up Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas.

Apart from seeking details from the legislators from 27 districts on priority issues related to developments in their constituencies, sources said that the Chief Minister asked them to ensure that eligible voters do not face injustice during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He also asked them not to interfere in the transfer of IAS and IPS officials.

The legislators were also instructed to protect the party workers and appoint six members to guarantee committees at the panchayat level. The Chief Minister also asked them to recommend suitable persons to head the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas and ensure their smooth functioning.

Among the issues raised by legislators were drinking water, infrastructure, housing, irrigation and other development projects, to which Mr. Shivakumar is learnt to have said that a decision on providing funds would be taken after discussions with senior Ministers and officials.
