Nurse murder: CM orders magisterial inquiry, fast-track trial

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered a magisterial inquiry into the recent rape and murder of a nurse at a private hospital in Tukkuguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad, directing officials to identify any lapses that may have contributed to the incident.

The Chief Minister directed that the inquiry examine the circumstances leading to the crime, security arrangements at the accommodation where the victim was staying, possible negligence on the part of the institution’s management and compliance with prescribed safety norms for women employees.

With the accused already in police custody, the CM instructed senior police officials to expedite the collection of forensic reports and other technical evidence and ensure that a comprehensive chargesheet was filed without delay.

The Chief Minister also directed the authorities to initiate steps for the case to be tried in a fast-track court so that the victim’s family could get speedy justice.

Mr. Reddy assured the victim’s family of full government support. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Seethakka had already visited and consoled the family. The government has also provided financial assistance and sanctioned an Indiramma house to the family.
