The National-level Bull Strength Competition 2026 was held at Tellapadu village of Doddavaram Panchayat in Maddipadu mandal of Prakasam district on Sunday (May 10, 2026) evening. Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Santanuthalapadu MLA B.N. Vijay Kumar, Kanigiri MLA Mukku Ugra Narasimha Reddy and other leaders participated in the event.
The traditional rural cattle endurance event was organised as part of the Sri Pothuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy Devalayam annual festivities. Thousands of people from neighbouring districts and States came to the village to watch the fitness-based challenges focused on the strength, agility and power of the Ongole-breed bulls.
Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy said the Ongole-breed cattle, known internationally, were a source of pride for the State. They had been recognised as a good breed in India and abroad and had brought fame to the region, he said.
He said the bulls were part of every farmer’s life and the event encouraged the livestock wealth of farmers. Organising a national-level Ongole-breed bull strength competition in the region was commendable. Such shows would help cattle ranchers expand their Ongole-breed livestock, he added.
