A high-voltage IPL 2026 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur saw pure drama and big hitting, and a young talent completely stole the show on April 26. Even though Rajasthan Royals (RR) ended on the losing side, their teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won the praise of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi looked fearless, and his unbelievable hitting stunned everyone, including Pat Cummins. The young Rajasthan Royals opener not only dominated world-class bowlers but also left a strong impact with his power-hitting and confidence on such a big stage.
Fearless Vaibhav Sooryavanshi destroys the SRH attack in Jaipur
The 15-year-old batting sensation from Bihar played with remarkable maturity and raw power at the same time. Vaibhav started his innings in the most aggressive way possible as he tore apart the SRH bowling attack by playing natural attacking cricket in Jaipur.

He even smashed six off the very first ball he faced from Cummins. Earlier in the season, too, the left-handed batter had shown the same fearless approach against top bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah of the Mumbai Indians and Josh Hazlewood of RCB, proving that reputation does not affect his game.
Sooryavanshi reached his fifty in just 15 balls, and he continued his blistering hitting and notched up his century in just 36 balls. This was his second IPL hundred and the third fastest in IPL history. His record knock of 103 runs off just 37 balls, studded with five boundaries and 12 sixes, helped RR post 228/6 on the board. Later, SRH chased down the target with 3 balls and 5 wickets to spare.
Pat Cummins in awe of teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
After the match, SRH captain Pat Cummins couldn’t hide his admiration as he was really amazed by the young batter’s fearless style. The Australian fast bowler said that the way Sooryavanshi hits the ball when facing him requires bowlers to be perfect every single ball.
Cummins, who played his first game of this season on Saturday, also acknowledged that the RRR opener has started his IPL journey in a very strong way, and his fearless style and rare attacking mindset make him a special talent to watch, especially at such a young age.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Pat Cummins said, “I think he’s my new favorite player. He hits the ball so hard; it’s great to watch. It’s good fun. You have to be right on the money as a bowler. If you are not, it’s going a long way. It’s impressive. He has had a great start to his career, and yeah, I like the way he plays. Takes the game on.”

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s power show rewrites IPL record books

Well, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 36-ball century against SRH is now the third-fastest hundred in IPL history. This is only behind Chris Gayle’s crazy 30-ball century back in 2013 and his own 35-ball hundred last season against the Gujarat Titans.
With this ton, he also became the first batter in IPL history to score multiple centuries in less than 40 balls. Vaibhav now has three T20 hundreds that came in under 40 balls. In this match, Vaibhav smashed 12 sixes in Jaipur, which is now the highest by any Indian batter in IPL history.
The previous record was 11, achieved by Murali Vijay and also by Sooryavanshi himself last year. In IPL history, only three innings have seen more than 12 sixes.
