RCB Star Tim David Faces 1-Match Ban In IPL 2027

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Tim David just landed in hot water—he broke the IPL Code of Conduct and now has to pay up half of his match fees. On top of that, he’s picked up two demerit points for breaking Level 1 of the Code.

Here’s what happened: David violated Article 2.9, which basically says you can’t throw a ball or even a water bottle, or anything else, at or near anyone on the field—be it a player, umpire, or official—if you’re being reckless or dangerous. And that’s exactly what went down in the 10th over of the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans. Right after a wicket, cameras caught David tossing a bag of ice toward the umpire, Nitin Menon. David didn’t deny anything—he owned up to what he did and accepted the punishment.

This isn’t his first brush with the rules either. It’s actually his third Level 1 offence, so now he’s suspended for one match. He’ll have to sit out RCB’s opener in IPL 2027, which is a real headache for the team.

Meanwhile, after guiding RCB to their second IPL title in a row, captain Rajat Patidar looked thrilled. He opened up about how confident the team felt all season. “This year, we were pretty confident because of how we played and everyone’s mindset was great. More confident than last year, honestly. And seeing fans show up everywhere we played made us feel at home—even on the road. Overall, it’s just amazing for RCB,” Patidar said after the win.
