Sunrisers Hyderabad have picked Dilshan Madushanka as the replacement for Brydon Carse for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2026 season, despite having given him several chances to bounce back in the season.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are finally leaving no stone unturned to maintain their winning streak after having finally handed a massive defeat to the undefeated Rajasthan Royals. They have struggled with their bowling form.
Sunrisers have shown glimpses of compensating for their poor bowling attack, especially after a stunning performance from the two uncapped Indian pacers, and a massive positive news in the form of Pat Cummins‘ possible comeback.
Dilshan Madushanka is named as Brydon Carse’s replacement by Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Dilshan Madushanka as the injury replacement for Brydon Carse, the English pacer who was picked as the backup option for Pat Cummins, the Australian skipper, who was already supposed to miss the initial games in the IPL.
SRH picked Dilshan Madushanka as the replacement after Carse was ruled out of the ongoing edition of the season due to an injury. Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm medium pacer, has represented Sri Lanka in 1 Test, 28 ODIs and 19 T20Is and has 70 wickets in international cricket to his name. He will join SRH for INR 75 Lakh, much lower than Carse.
However, this is not the first time Madushanka will be playing in the IPL, as he has formerly played in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians, when he was picked at a whopping INR 4.60 crores after a stunning season in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. However, he had missed the season due to a massive injury.
What injury ruled Brydon Carse out of IPL 2026?
The England pacer was not part of the ICC T20 World Cup squad; however, the Sunrisers Hyderabad had picked him as part of the squad for the base price of INR 1 crore. He was previously ruled out of the previous season due to a toe injury.
This season, as well, he has been ruled out of the competition owing to a massive injury scare. He sustained an injury to his wrist or hand while he batted in the nets prior to the team’s opening match against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Finally, after giving him some major chances to rehabilitate, however, on the 14th of April, he was ruled out and replaced by the Lankan paceman. This is another major blow to the SRH bowling lineup.
Pat Cummins is likely to return for IPL 2026
Eshan Malinga has played a massive role for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Pat Cummins’ absence, and until the former skipper returns, Madushanka might be seen in the side, as SRH does have a slot lined for the player, alongside the other Sri Lankan pacers and the uncapped Indian bowlers.
However, SRH have another piece of good news waiting for them, as skipper Cummins is likely to take a fitness test tomorrow in Australia and then fly back to India on the 17th of this month. Cummins, on the other hand, might make himself available for the rest of the season after his return.
