The Telangana government has set a target of constructing one lakh houses under the Indiramma Towers programme in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), with the project to be implemented in three phases.

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has directed officials to identify suitable government land on a war footing to expedite construction.

At a review meeting with Collectors and other officials of Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts at the State Secretariat in the city on Friday (October 23, 2026), the Minister stressed that the government intended to provide houses to poor families close to their existing places of residence so that their livelihoods would not be disrupted.

The government was implementing the programme constituency-wise, with each Assembly constituency being treated as a unit. The Minister directed the Collectors to complete land identification for the first phase and make advance arrangements for the second and third phases as well.

The first phase envisages the construction of around 500 houses in each constituency. He emphasised that the protection of government land must receive priority while identifying sites for the proposed towers. Officials should assess land availability, suitability and other requirements continuously.

The Minister said the Indiramma Towers initiative was being taken up in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of ensuring that poor families did not have to move far away from their existing localities to access housing.

Allot 2 BHKs by October end

Mr. Ponguleti also directed officials to complete the selection of beneficiaries for double-bedroom houses in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts by the end of October.

He instructed the Housing Corporation to use specially developed software and modern technology to conduct an online draw for beneficiaries selectiion. The same procedure should be followed in all three districts. Arrangements should also be made to livestream the draw so that the selection process could be monitored publicly.

Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar, Housing Secretary V.P. Gowtham and other senior officials attended the meeting.
