The Hindu In School, in association with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), is set to roll out “Swachhata Pakhwada 2026”, a 15-day nationwide cleanliness initiative aligned with the Government of India’s flagship Swachh Bharat Mission.
Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) aims at transforming cleanliness into a people’s movement through innovative ideas and active community participation. The initiative reflects the Government of India’s vision of making cleanliness a sustained national habit.
As part of this initiative, 50 select government schools in Chennai will participate in the programme from July 1 to July 15. The campaign is designed to engage students of diverse age groups through creative and thought-provoking competitions such as drawing, slogan, and essay writing.
The top 10 performers in each category will be recognised. There will be one winner, two runners-up and seven consolation winners. The Hindu In School-BPCL Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 seeks to go beyond awareness; it aims at inspiring behavioural change among students so they could become ambassadors of cleanliness within their communities.
