Apple’s next Pro iPhone might be getting a bold new finish.
According to recent reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are currently being tested in four colour options: Light Blue, Dark Cherry, Dark Grey, and Silver. Of those, it’s Dark Cherry that’s getting the most attention. Multiple sources now point to it as the standout new shade for this year’s lineup.
A known leaker on Weibo, Instant Digital, has backed up earlier claims from Macworld. This leaker describes Dark Cherry as a blend of burgundy, deep purple, and coffee tones. It sounds like a richer, moodier take on the “deep red” colour that’s been floating around in rumours for a while. Potentially, it is a more premium-looking alternative to last year’s brighter finishes.
If that pans out, Dark Cherry would effectively replace the Cosmic Orange option introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro. This option is now expected to be discontinued alongside Deep Blue. Apple tends to refresh its Pro colours annually, and this looks like another shift toward darker, more understated tones.
The rest of the rumoured lineup feels more familiar. Light Blue is said to resemble the Sierra Blue finish from the iPhone 13 Pro. Meanwhile, Dark Gray could land somewhere between Graphite and Space Black depending on the final shade. Silver, unsurprisingly, sticks around as the safe, classic option.
It’s worth taking all of this with the usual grain of salt. While both Macworld and Instant Digital have decent track records with Apple leaks, not every early colour test makes it to the final release. For example, last year’s leaks correctly predicted some finishes but missed others entirely.
Apple isn’t expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro range until September, so there’s still time for things to change. But if Dark Cherry does make the cut, it could end up being the most distinctive Pro colour Apple has shipped in a while. This would be a clear shift away from the brighter tones of recent years.
