The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.41, was between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Wakhede Stadium, Mumbai. It was another high-scoring game at this venue as SRH beat MI by 6 wickets. As the match ended with another centurion finishing on the losing side.
Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first, with the five-time winners making four changes: Ryan Rickelton, Trent Boult, Robin Minz, and Will Jacks, with Quinton de Kock, Mitchell Santner, Sherfane Rutherford, and Krish Bhagat making way. QDK and Santner were forced to change as both were injured. Rohit Sharma also missed and will take another two games to recover.
IPL 2026: MI vs SRH Match Result:
After choosing to bat first, the opening pair, Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks, gave the five-time winners a blistering start as the pair scored 78 runs in the power play and were looking dangerous, but Nitish Kumar Reddy gave the breakthrough, as Jacks was back in the pavilion after scoring 46 off 22 balls. The hundred was up inside 8 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for yet another low score; however, Rickelton, on his comeback game, went into absolute mayhem as he scored his fifty in just 23 balls and continued his demolition against the SRH bowlers. The 150 was up in 11 overs. Naman Dhir played more of an anchor, scoring 22 off 17 balls.
Ryan Rickelton scored a hundred in 44 balls as he became the fastest batter to score a hundred for the Mumbai Indians, surpassing the records of Sanath Jayasuriya and Tilak Varma, who achieved it in 45 balls. Skipper Pandya played a crucial role of 31 off 15 balls, and Rickelton was unbeaten with the score 123 off 55 balls, which helped MI score 243/5 in 20 overs.
Coming out to chase, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were off to a breezy start, as they scored fifty in three overs and were striking brilliantly, and scored 92/0 in the power play. Head brought up his fifty in 20 balls, and went carnage against the MI bowlers, but the Mumbai bowlers pulled the match, picking 3 wickets in a span of 10 runs.
Head was dismissed on the score of 76 runs, and Ishan Kishan failed to open his account. A flurry of wickets gave some sigh of relief for the MI fans, but then Heinrich Klaasen brought his fifty in 22 balls and took the game away from the Mumbai Indians, possibly knocking them out of the IPL 2026.
Klaasen was unbeaten with the score of 65, and Salil Arora played a superb knock of 30 off 10 balls, which made a five wins in a row for the SRH, and also it was the fourth-highest run chase in IPL history.
