Rajasthan Royals sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is on the brink of creating one but two new records in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026). One of the two possible records the 15-year-old can claim tonight, when the Rajasthan Royals will be up against the Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
According to the stats, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi needs only one 6 to complete 100 sixes in his Twenty20 career. If he can do this, he will be the first teenager in the history of cricket to complete a century of 6s in this particular format.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is in great form for the Rajasthan Royals
Like the previous IPL season, the young opener has been in dominating form in the ongoing season too. The Bihar-born has scored 400 runs in 9 matches at an average of 44.44 and an outstanding strike rate of 238.09, including one century and two fifties, with a best score of 103.
As of now, Sooryavanshi has featured in 27 T20 innings, scoring a total of 1101 runs, which is supported by 99 maximums. He needed only one big hit to complete the century. Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who smashed 90 sixes, needed 52 innings, while the Indian opener could achieve the record in 28 innings only.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi can break Abhishek Sharma’s record as well
The Rajasthan Royals prodigy can claim another record, which now belongs to the Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma. As of now, Abhishek Sharma holds the record for smashing the most 6s in a single Indian Premier League season. In 2024, the SRH batter recorded 42 sixes, which is the most sixes a batter has smashed so far in the history of the league.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will have to hit only 6 sixes to surpass Abhishek’s record. In the ongoing edition, the southpaw has struck 34 fours and 37 sixes. The most sixes he smashed were when he registered a century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur on April 25. 103-run innings off 37 balls, he hammered five 4s and 12 6s.
KL Rahul praised the Royals batter ahead of the match
Tonight, the Rajasthan Royals will be against the Delhi Capitals. The Capitals, who are not having a great season so far, must take advanced precautionary steps to prevent the dangerous batter from playing another big knock. Ahead of the match, DC opener KL Rahul said that what the 15-year-old cricketer has achieved, he could only dream of at that age.
“It’s phenomenal what the new-age cricketers are doing. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken world cricket by storm. Two centuries at the age of 15 is something I never even dreamt of doing. Ayush Mhatre has also done well, helping CSK score quick runs. The amount of talent coming up in India is scary, especially in T20 cricket. These fearless prodigies are changing the way T20S are played,” KL Rahul said on JioStar.
