The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 schedule has been officially announced, and India’s complete route through the tournament is now clear.
India will have a special role at both ends of the Group Stage. The Men in Blue will play the very first match of the Group Stage against defending champions Australia on 7 October in Cape Town. India will also feature in the final match of the Group Stage, facing co-hosts Zimbabwe on 24 October at Victoria Falls.
And if India go all the way to the title clash, their World Cup journey will finish with the Final in Johannesburg on 21 November.
India to Start World Cup 2027 Against Australia
India have been placed in Group A alongside Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A.
Their campaign begins with a huge contest against Australia in Cape Town on 7 October. It will be a repeat of the 2023 ODI World Cup Final, where Australia defeated India to lift the trophy.
Just three days later comes another blockbuster. India will face Pakistan on 10 October at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
India then take on Afghanistan in Tshwane on 14 October, followed by Qualifier A in Bloemfontein on 17 October.
The Group Stage journey ends against Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls on 24 October. Interestingly, this is also the final match of the entire Group Stage.

India’s Potential Super 7 Schedule
Before looking at India’s Super 7 schedule, there is one very important point to understand.
For the schedule below, we are assuming that India will qualify for the Super 7 stage.
India have been pre-seeded as A1 by the ICC. This means the A1 fixture pathway, including dates and venues, has already been decided.
However, being pre-seeded as A1 does not mean India have automatically qualified for the Super 7. India still have to qualify through the Group Stage.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 7, along with the better fourth-placed team across the two groups.
If India qualify and retain their pre-seeded A1 position, they will play six matches in the Super 7.
The opponents listed below are also based on the ICC’s pre-seeded allocations. Therefore, these exact teams will meet India only if they also qualify and retain their respective seeded positions.
India Super 7 Schedule
| Date | Match | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 28 October 2027 | 🇮🇳 India vs Australia 🇦🇺 | Victoria Falls |
| 31 October 2027 | 🇿🇦 South Africa vs India 🇮🇳 | Johannesburg |
| 4 November 2027 | 🇮🇳 India vs New Zealand 🇳🇿 | Paarl |
| 7 November 2027 | 🇮🇳 India vs Pakistan 🇵🇰 | Cape Town |
| 11 November 2027 | 🇮🇳 India vs England 🏴 | Gqeberha |
| 14 November 2027 | 🇮🇳 India vs Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 | Durban |
If all the currently pre-seeded teams qualify, India could therefore face both Australia and Pakistan twice during the tournament — once in the Group Stage and once again in the Super 7.
The ICC has currently pre-seeded India as A1, Australia as A2, Pakistan as A3, England as AB4, New Zealand as B1, South Africa as B2 and Sri Lanka as B3.
If a non-seeded team qualifies at the expense of one of these pre-seeded sides, it will take the Super 7 position of the team it replaces. Therefore, India’s Super 7 dates and venues can remain tied to the A1 pathway even if some of the opponents change.
World Cup 2027 Semi-Finals and Final Dates
After every team has played six matches in the Super 7, the top four sides in the standings will advance to the semi-finals.
The team finishing first will face the fourth-placed side, while the teams finishing second and third will contest the other semi-final.
| Stage | Date | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 🏏 Semi-Final 1 | 17 November 2027 | Cape Town |
| 🏏 Semi-Final 2 | 18 November 2027 | Tshwane |
| 🏆 Final | 21 November 2027 | Johannesburg |
So, if India qualify for the Super 7, finish among the top four and then win their semi-final, they will play the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 Final on 21 November in Johannesburg.
India’s potential World Cup journey could therefore begin against Australia on 7 October in Cape Town and finish with the biggest match of the tournament on 21 November in Johannesburg.
If India reach the Final, they will play a maximum of 13 matches in the 2027 ODI World Cup — five in the Group Stage, six in the Super 7, one semi-final and the Final.
