Romi Bhinder saved? Rajasthan Royals manager’s case unlikely to lead major action

Rajasthan Royals received massive relief as manager Romi Bhinder might get away with a light sanction or even a slight warning after a show cause from the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption board. This happened after a viral moment where he was seen carrying a mobile phone into the dugout during a live match.

The Rajasthan Royals have been in unstoppable form in this edition of the IPL. However, despite their good form, some outward concerns have threatened the integrity of the side. The Royals have already had a blow to their reputation, as they were banned for two seasons formerly for a match-fixing allegation.

The recent fiasco that took place involved team manager Romi Bhinder, who was caught using a mobile phone in the RR dugout. He was seen using the device while sitting alongside the RR youngster, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who should be taught to be disciplined by his seniors in the team.

No serious action to be taken against the Rajasthan Royals manager

Romi Bhinder is the RR team manager, and he is allowed to bring a phone inside the playing premises and can also use the phone if required, but he has been penalized for using it outside the designated area, which was the dressing room.

He was near the dugout, and it remained in contention whether he was technically within it, and the images revealed later that he was seated in front of the refrigerator, which makes him outside the designated zone.

The Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the BCCI show-caused him for his use of the mobile phone near the players’ dugout. A formal sanction was not issued, and he is unlikely to receive one as per the latest reports from Cricbuzz. However, they have confirmed that any serious suspension or ban is unlikely to happen.

Rajasthan Royals manager to be relieved, citing his health issues

The Cricbuzz report further claimed that the BCCI is considering the manager’s actions to be injudicious and indiscreet, but has mentioned that he had no malicious intent and had no intention of causing the breach.

“He also appears to have serious health issues. The ACSU will take the final call, but on the face of it, this does not seem to be a major violation,” the source said.

The BCCI source close to Cricbuzz also confirmed that he responded within 48-hours of being called by the BCCI and also submitted an apology. He also informed the board about his concerns regarding his poor health and the severity of his condition.

Rajasthan Royals lose no. 1 position to defending champions RCB

The Rajasthan Royals were leading the points tally this season, with four consecutive wins. The Royals, on the other hand, have finally ended their winning streak with a loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad when the uncapped pacers put a brake on the flow of runs from the Indian youngsters in the RR lineup.

The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, won four matches as well and have now moved to the top of the points table with eight points in the season. RCB has taken the top position, while the Royals have slipped to the fourth position. If the Punjab Kings manage to win their next game, they might be promoted further into the top, while RCB and RR will slip down.
