SUV allegedly driven on wrong route kills ex-serviceman in Hyderabad hit-and-run case, two injured

A 47-year-old former Army Subedar was killed and two others injured after an SUV, allegedly being driven on the wrong side of the road, hit three two-wheelers in Hydershakote early on Monday (August 10, 2026).

The accident occurred around 5.30 a.m., when Dammu Ravinder — who had served in the Army as a Subedar — and others were returning after attending Bonalu celebrations at a friend’s house. The SUV allegedly being driven on the wrong wide of the road collided with the three two-wheelers.

The ex-serviceman sustained fatal injuries and died at the spot. Two other two-wheeler riders were injured and shifted to a hospital for treatment.

According to the preliminary investigation, there were four occupants in the SUV. After the accident, they allegedly abandoned the damaged vehicle and fled the spot. The driver is yet to be arrested.

The Narsingi police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and trace those involved in the hit-and-run.

The registration number of the SUV involved in the accident was identified. Police Echallans records show three previous traffic violations against the vehicle, including a ₹1,000 challan for over-speeding/dangerous driving in Harshaguda under the RGI Airport traffic police limits in March 2025. It also had challans for parking on a service road in Nagarkurnool and for stopping or standing at a prohibited location in Lal Darwaza, Hyderabad.
