1. CM Stalin warns of massive protest against delimitation
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin warned of a massive protest that would bring the State to a standstill if the BJP-led Union government took a decision on delimitation that would affect the southern States and offer more political power to the northern States.
“Tamil Nadu will register its protest vehemently. I am not just the Chief Minister, but the leader of the DMK, a massive political movement. You will see a Tamil Nadu you have not seen before. India will once again see the DMK of the 1950s and 1960s,” he said in a video message.
2. BJP releases poll manifesto
Former national president of the BJP and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda released the BJP’s election manifesto for the upcoming Assembly election in Tamil Nadu. The party’s poll promises have been broadly divided into 16 categories, while some of them have already been promised by the AIADMK, which leads the alliance in the State.
Speaking during the event at Chennai, he alleged that the DMK government had converted Tamil Nadu, a cradle of the world’s oldest civilisation, into a “crime capital.”
3. TVK’s Sulur candidate faints from exhaustion minutes after garlanding Vijay
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate for the Sulur Assembly constituency, N.M. Sukumar, fainted shortly after garlanding party president Vijay at Kaniyur Toll Plaza along the Salem-Cochin National Highway.
Earlier, Mr. Sukumar had received Mr. Vijay at the Coimbatore International Airport.
4. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s assets: Plea in Madras HC seeks probe
A writ petition has been filed in the Madras High Court seeking an inquiry by the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) and the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs into alleged material discrepancies in the assets declared by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin during the 2021 Legislative Assembly polls and for the elections scheduled to be held on April 23 this year.
5. 122 sovereigns of gold stolen from DMK candidate’s house
As much as 122 sovereigns of gold and ₹45,000 in cash were stolen from the house of the DMK candidate for the Sattur Assembly constituency, A. Kadarkarai Raj, on Monday (April 13, 2026) night in Virudhunagar district.
The police said that the gold, along with 800 grams of silver and the cash, were kept in a cupboard in the pooja room of the house in Vekatachalapuram under Sattur Town limits.
